Paul Casey wins Porsche European Open after dramatic final day

After coming on top of a congested leaderboard at the Porsche European Open, paul Casey claimed his first European Tour title in five years.
The 42-year-old was united leaders Bob MacIntyre and by Austrian Bernd Wiesberger and Bernd Ritthammer under par with three holes staying through an orgasmic finale in Green Eagle Golf Courses in Hamburg.
The adventure of casey came to the fore after a stunning birdie putt from 35 feet at the 16th proved to be the turning point as he carded a birdie-birdie-par finish to claim his 14th European Tour success – his first since the KLM Open.
“I get emotional at every victory however this year was so brilliant,” said Casey, who also given the trophy to former winner Gordon Brand Jnr following his death at age 60 final month.
“This is an incredibly prestigious decoration that has a lot of history to it in the European Tour so I am over the moon.
“I’m pleased to be the Porsche European Open winner”
Casey began the day one shot behind Ritthammer and the Scot in eight below and recorded his very best front nine to move in emptiness, together with MacIntyre maintaining the advantage at the turn.
The blemish in the 12th left the door open for Casey, who replied with a birdie at the 13th, to get his nose in front before moving back ahead in the 16th after a tie for the lead.
Casey could only measure the last to give hope of a to Ritthammer and MacIntyre.
However, the Scot putt slid by the hole prior to the birdie attempt of the home favourite pulled up just short as the entire 17 became the successive Englishman to win the event later Richard McEvoy and Jordan Smith.
