Galway’s next football manager: Contenders to replace Kevin Walsh

The death as manager of this Galway footballers of kevin Walsh has left an exciting vacancy, without the lack of names related to the role.
With the county’s minors hitting All-Ireland finals in the last two decades, the U21 and U20 sides picking up Connacht titles in 2017 and 2019 respectively, and also Corofin winning three of the last five All-Ireland club names, there are clearly promising signs from the west.
Galway boss Walsh measures down
Who would Galway GAA turn to, since they seek their first All-Ireland name since 2001?
A two-time All-Ireland winner Joyce, as a player is a legend over the continent. Having moved into control, carrying over the U20 side of the county this season, he led them with a triumph over Mayo to a Connacht name.
He commands broad respect and could prove a popular option.
Rochford is a selector using the ticket already ratified for one more year at the Ulster County, under Declan Bonner at Donegal. Could the Crossmolina person be enticed with a return to a managerial job?
Rochford is well seen after leading Corofin into an All-Ireland title. There, he directed them and of beating Dublin in 2016 and 2017 over a whisker.
With a few fans and pundits trying to find that the Tribesmen use a more assaulting game-plan, Rochford could shake up the side.
The other player with all the western county, Divilly has built his expertise at third level. Having directed UCD he certainly has credentials in a high level.
In addition to Joyce, Divilly is believed to be among the ancient front-runners for the function.
A selector under Rochford at Corofin for its 2015 All-Ireland victory , took control to lead the side to titles in 2018 and 2019. They have done so in some fashion, producing their best soccer at Croke Park, beating Nemo Rangers and Dr Crokes by a combined 27 points.
Soccer circles may be appealed to by the attacking style in which Corofin have gone to their company.
Cunningham would be an outside bet to land the job, but certainly gets the expertise. The prior Tribe hurling manager took on the Roscommon footballers last year, and attracted immediate success using a Connacht name and a Super 8s revealing.
Cunningham could potentially become one of the few to handle a county using both Se??n Boylan and Pat Gilroy being other examples, though it’s not unprecedented.
