About Chad Hugo Stephenson

Blue Jackets vs. Blackhawks NHL Pick – October 18th

I couldnt recover my momentum out of a 2-0 Wednesday night as 2 of my three selections dropped final night, the last of which once again came in fashion.
The night actually got off to a wonderful start as the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins moved back-and-forth ahead of the game had a shootout with the two clubs knotted at threes later overtime. The Lighting got a Steven Stamkos goal in the shootout because we struck the Lighting at +100 odds that were nice in this one, while Andrei Vasilevskiy stood tall.
On the other hand, the night went downhill from that point. After once again becoming the first objective of the game, the Winnipeg Jets proceeded to lose their third consecutive home game and will enable the three markers. The offense just isnt clicking and that I had been bitten by it upon two of the last three nights.
Finally, my very last pick of the night between the Predators and Coyotes dropped as the total went thanks — you guessed it — an empty-netter. We stumbled with a push into the third stage but our fate was sealed by a Carl Soderberg empty-netter and gave us night that was losing during the last three.
It has been a week for this stage, but lets enter the weekend on a high note in a matchup between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks in the United Center in Chicago.

Blue Jackets vs. Blackhawks NHL Pick
As Blue Jackets butt and also the Blackhawks heads from the United Center, it is a rare meeting in the Windy City tonight.
Columbus enters this one riding high after winning successive games that are 3-2 over the Hurricanes and Stars, a much-needed mini win streak after dropping three of the first four matches of the year. John Tortorellas team has plenty to prove with reduced expectations after dropping Sergei Bobrovsky, Artemi Panarin, Matt Duchene along with Ryan Dzingel to free agency in the offseason. Of late, theyve been much better.
Scoring targets remains an issue, however. The Blue Jackets passes this one tonight tied for 28th with just 2.33 goals per game over the season and if theyve been improved against a couple of poorer offenses within the last few matches, they have still allowed 3.33 goals per match on the rear end. Goaltending was an issue so much after GM Jarmo Kekalainen determined against upgrading the goaltending situation after the passing of Bobrovsky, instead handing the keys Joonas Korpisalo. While Korpisalo has been much better of late, it seems the start of tonight will go.
Needless to say, said begin didnt go well. The Pittsburgh Penguins torched merzlikins good for an .825 Svpercent in his NHL debut. We do know that he put in some work from the Swiss-A league for a few seasons before taking his talents while we dont know about Merzlikins in an NHL standpoint. Merzlikins posted a good .921 Sv% in Switzerland in each of the past two seasons , nevertheless he found out that the NHL is an entirely new ball game.
Merzlikins will have to deal with keep what is a talented Chicago Blackhawks offense at bay within this one. As they sit with an three goals per match regardless of the standard spike in October scoring, however remember this was the league offense from a year ago, they have reach their stride this season. The gifted quarter of Patrick Kane Jonathan Toews, Dylan Strome and Alex DeBrincat ought to get the Blackhawks back into the top 10 this season while Erik Gustafsson is the sudden one of the very effective defensemen in the league out of an offensive perspective.
On the rear end, the Blackhawks have been adequate when enabling 3.25 goals per game, a number that puts them directly in the middle of the league. But it has been in their penalty kill thats hurt them the most as they rank 30th having an ugly 61.5% mark on the PK, however for tonight that the good thing is that the Blue Jackets power play has scuffled a little bit using a 16.7% clip, good for a share of 23rd alongside the Vancouver Canucks.
In four games played this season, the Blackhawks have allowed only six goals against. Their blueline was upgraded from the offseason from a perspective using the trade imports of Olli Maatta from the Penguins and Calvin de Haan. The expectation is that the Blackhawks could be improved in their 30th-ranked defense in the season ago.
They updated their goaltending position in the offseason. Lehner has made only one start this year, but will really get start number two against these Jackets. Lehner let three goals on 33 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Lehner has been a very great goaltender throughout his NHL career as he owns a .918 Sv% for his career and has been at .920 or greater in three of their four seasons. He just wasnt playing for winning teams while with the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres. To me, theres very little doubt about who has the benefit in this one.
All told, I am about the tonight. They snapped a season-opening three-game losing streak using a win over the Edmonton Oilers that were white-hot . They outshot the Oilers 35-28 in that individual as well. I like the appearance of the crime and that I cant help but believe that they have a significant opportunity tonight against a goaltender who cant be playing confidence after being torched in his only appearance this year. I guess they can easily eclipse that mark given the circumstances tonight, although they have scored three or more goals in each match this season.
The Blue Jackets are better recently, especially on the rear end, but protecting the Blackhawks at the United Center may be a difficult task and I feel that the Blackhawks offense is ready to split out. That wont be good news for Elvias Merzlikins and Co. as Im taking the Blackhawks to win this one on the moneyline tonight.
