Blue Jackets vs. Blackhawks NHL Pick – October 18th

As 2 of my three picks fell final night, the final of which came in frustrating fashion I could not recover my momentum from a 2-0 Wednesday night.
Ahead of the match had a shootout with the 2 clubs because Boston Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning moved back-and-forth the night got off to a beginning. The Lighting got a Steven Stamkos goal late while Andrei Vasilevskiy stood tall as we hit the Lighting at chances in this particular one.
On the other hand, the night went downhill from that point. After getting the first objective of the match, the Winnipeg Jets proceeded to lose their third straight home game and will permit the subsequent three markers. The offense isnt clicking and it bit me upon two of the 3 nights.
Because the total went thanks — you guessed it — a empty-netter, Ultimately, my very last choice of the night between the Predators and Coyotes lost. We sat with a push into the third period but our fate was sealed by a Carl Soderberg empty-netter and gave us second night that was losing throughout the previous three.
Its been a week to this stage, but lets enter the weekend on a high note in a matchup between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks in the United Center in Chicago.

Blue Jackets vs. Blackhawks NHL Choose
Its a rare meeting in the Windy City tonight as Jackets butt and also the Blackhawks heads from the United Center.
Columbus enters this one riding high after winning successive 3-2 games a mini win streak after falling three of those first four matches of this season. John Tortorellas team has lots to establish with expectations after losing Artemi Panarin Sergei Bobrovsky, Matt Duchene along with Ryan Dzingel to free agency in the offseason. Of late, theyve been much better.
Scoring goals remains an issue, however. The Blue Jackets passes this 1 yelling tied for 28th with just 2.33 goals per game on the season and while theyve been better against a few weaker offenses over the previous three matches, they have still permitted 3.33 goals per game on the rear end. Goaltending has been an issue so far following GM Jarmo Kekalainen decided against upgrading the goaltending position after the departure of Bobrovsky, rather handing the keys. It appears the beginning of tonight will actually go to copy Elvis Merzlikins that has made only another beginning this season while Korpisalo was better of late.
Needless to say, said begin did not go well. The Pittsburgh Penguins torched merzlikins good for an .825 Sv% in his NHL debut. We do understand he put in some wonderful work before taking his talents overseas while we dont know a lot about Merzlikins in an NHL perspective. Merzlikins submitted a good .921 Svpercent in Switzerland in each of the previous two seasons he found out first that the NHL is an entirely new ball game.
Merzlikins will be faced with keep what is a Chicago Blackhawks crime at bay inside this one. They have not completely reach their stride this year because they sit regardless of the surge in October scoring with an 3 goals per game, however remember this has been the leagues most eighth-ranked offense from a season ago. The quarter of Patrick Kane Jonathan Toews, Dylan Strome and Alex DeBrincat must find the Blackhawks back into the top 10 this season while Erik Gustafsson is the sudden one of the defensemen in the league from an offensive standpoint.
On the back end, the Blackhawks are decent whilst allowing 3.25 goals per game, a number that places them right in the middle of the league. But its been in their penalty kill that has hurt them the most as they position 30th with an awful 61.5% mark on the PK, however for tonight that the good thing is that the Blue Jackets power play has scuffled a little bit with a 16.7% clip, good for a share of 23rd along with the Vancouver Canucks.
In four matches played this season, the Blackhawks have allowed just six goals against. Their blueline was upgraded from the Hurricanes using the trade imports of Olli Maatta in Calvin de Haan and the Penguins in the offseason from a defensive standpoint. The expectation is that the Blackhawks can be improved in their 30th-ranked defense from a season ago.
They also upgraded their situation in the offseason with Robin Lehner who is coming from a Vezina-nominated season using the New York Islanders. Lehner has made only one start this year, but will get start number two. In his lone start of the year, Lehner let three goals on 33 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Lehner has been a very good goaltender during his nine-year NHL profession as he owns a .918 Sv and has been at .920 or greater in three of their last four seasons. Hent played for winning teams with the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres. For me, theres hardly any doubt about who gets the goaltending benefit in this one.
All told, Im on the tonight. They snapped a season-opening three-game losing run using a rock-solid 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers that were white-hot . They outshot the in that one. I like the looks of the offense and I cant help but believe that they have a major chance tonight after being torched this season with no goaltender who can not be playing much confidence. Theyve scored three or more goals in each match this season, but I figure they are easily able to eclipse that mark awarded tonight to the circumstances.
The Blue Jackets are better especially on the back end, but protecting the Blackhawks at the United Center could be a difficult task and I believe that the Blackhawks crime is about to split out. That will not be good news for Elvias Merzlikins and Co. as I am taking the Blackhawks to win this one on the moneyline tonight.
